 Wide Blackwood Stave Snare
We are proud and delighted to announce a new snare to the FHD catalogue of Blackwood Solid Stave snare drums. click here
This is a 15x4.5” Blackwood stave, and as with the hugely successful 'Fatboy' we now have another formidable instrument to add to the lexicon of serious snare drums.
The snare weighs in at just 3.06kgs and from thereon in.... it's all go... this is a big drum in more ways than one.
As with all Fidock snare drums, the undersized shell is thin (6-7mm) with sculpted reinforcement rings and our standard 8 lugs. The strainer is the Trick multi-step.
For now at least, this snare comes with steel hoops only.
What does it do and how does it sound?
The added diameter delivers a bit more towards the lower notes, and then some.... and the shallow depth engages the snare side for an ultra rapid response with outstanding snare definition ....FAT, crisp, and fast. From subtle press rolls to full on widening flams and slamming rim shots, this snare gives as good as it gets.
As for brushwork? hmm.. roll up your sleeves and go to it.
As Bob Meyer recently said of his FHD snare: "... not for the faint of heart." Good call Bob, thanks.

 Fatboy Makeover
The Fatboy has undergone a makeover. This snare now features 8 lugs (double row) for a little extra tuning finesse. This snare has been a huge hit for us (no pun intended.... at all.. really) and we are happy to say, that we just made a great snare even better. Click here.
